The online rules

Ontario's regulated online gambling market opened on April 4, 2022. iGaming Ontario conducts and manages it, and the AGCO regulates it. A private online casino is legal here only with AGCO registration and an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario.

OLG.ca stands apart from those private sites. It is the online casino of OLG, the provincial agency. The iGaming Ontario directory at igamingontario.ca lists the regulated sites, and any operator name can be looked up there.

Two conditions apply to every online player. Each must be 19 or older and physically located in Ontario while playing. Lottery tickets alone are 18+, so the 19 rule is about casinos and online casino play. Under Ontario law, the same age applies to entering or staying in a land-based casino such as the Fraserville slots floor.

Opting out

BetGuard, at betguard.ca, has been run by iGaming Ontario since May 14, 2026. One exclusion covers every regulated Ontario online gambling site, OLG.ca included. Terms run 6 months, 1 year, 5 years or a custom length.

It does not cover land-based casinos, so the slots at Kawartha Downs fall outside it. For those, OLG's My PlayBreak applies. A casino break of 3 or 6 months or 1 to 5 years bars entry to any Ontario casino. The term cannot be cancelled early. Enrolment goes through the OLG Support Centre at 1-800-387-0098, staff on site, or a PlaySmart Centre.

How this guide is paid

Paid links appear on the home page only, each marked Ad. The three are a menu button, a block just below the first screen and one near the page's end. All three lead to one private online casino partner, for adults physically located in Ontario. That partner pays the guide a commission.

The partner is not named on any page and can change. It is not OLG.ca and has no connection with Shorelines Slots at Kawartha Downs, Kawartha Downs, Great Canadian, OLG, iGaming Ontario, the AGCO or any help service. None of them pays this guide. Any operator can be checked in the iGaming Ontario directory at igamingontario.ca.
